Local Trail Conditions
for the
Bighorn Mountains Area

Trail & Snow Conditions -   Month of May 2008

  • There is (6-12") of snow above 7000' on the east slope of the Bighorns and substantially more (24-48") on the west slope.

  • Cross-Country skiing is excellent at Willow Park and good in most places at Pole Creek.

  •  Big Horn Ski Resort is closed for the season.

  • Hailey, Muddy Guard, and Buffalo Wetlands Reservoirs and Lake DeSmet are open and ice free.

  • The access road at the Middle Fork of Powder River is still snowed in and closed - a week or so of warm weather should help get this road open.
